Invigorate and revitalize your skin with the power of three synergistic antioxidants in this pressed serum: Vitamin C, Coenzyme Q10, and Astaxanthin.  Night time application allows your skin to heal itself while you sleep. But use it anytime you wish.  It works well as a whole body serum!

We know how well tallow absorbs into human skin and that's why we're such fans of infusions for maximum benefit.  We improved this balm by eliminating fragile carrier oils in our previous formulation and by adding potent actives.

When considering options for actives, retinoids were a possible candidate.  But we realized its redundance because water buffalo specific tallow is a mild source of naturally occurring retinol.  Unlike beef cattle, water buffalo have highly efficient guts that convert beta carotenes consumed into the safest and most bioavailable form of vitamin A -- retinol.  (That's why buffalo fat is never yellow*.) Each jar contains approximately 80 IU of naturally occurring retinol.

We use a mixture of water buffalo tallow and a pure, buttery beef fat so that the base of this balm is strictly bovine.  This base is then infused with whole food sources of Vitamin C including Ester C, acerola, camu camu, and rose hips.  Plantain is a Native American secret for intensive skin repair (look out wrinkles!) Salicin in white willow bark helps exfoliate dead skin cells.  With the addition of astaxanthin and CoQ10, Night Repair Balm is a potent serum that works to reverse photo damage and nourish maturing skin.  The antioxidants in this balm give it a rich color that ranges from pink to tan.

Night Repair Balm is available unscented or lightly scented with sleepy-time essential oils of clary sage and chamomile.  Please keep in mind, whichever option you choose, this product smells like the rich nutrients it contains.

Also Note: This pressed serum is characteristic of a true balm -- thick and rich and depending on the season, may take a little work to warm in your hands before applying.  We recommend using it all over!

The color varies from pink to tan, depending on the dominant color of the antioxidants when this product is made.

* A yellow hue in beef fat, just like in butter, is usually an indicator of the presence of beta carotene, the precursor to Vitamin A (retinol).  It is converted in the intestines when ingested.  Research shows that topical beta-carotene may convert into epidermal retinyl esters, also a precursor of epidermal vitamin A.

Natural Ingredients for Skincare and Their Benefits

Unrefined 100% Grassfed Buffalo Tallow — Dry rendered in-house from our family’s herd of water buffalo, this exceptionally nutritious fat is the basis of all our products. Be sure to read about the amazing benefits of our 100% grassfed tallow here.  We also use a lower viscosity beef fat blend in order to eliminate the need for carrier oils in this formulation.

Vitamin E Oil -- non-GMO mixed tocopherols for a smoother feel while boosting the efficacy of vitamin C.

Ascorbyl palmitate -- also known as Ester C, is an ester formed from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid creating a fat-soluble form of vitamin C.  We add it to this balm to ensure at least 5% vitamin C is active.

Organic Acerola — An abundant source of Vitamin C derived from cherries.

Organic Camu Camu — Derived from a shrub, camu camu berries are a potent source of Vitamin C, amino acids and phytochemicals.

Organic Rosehips — Taken from the part of the rose flower just below the petal, rose hips are also a natural source of Vitamin C.

Note: Vitamin C is naturally found in skin, mostly the epidermis and some in the dermis.  Collagen collapse is a major cause of wrinkles.  Vitamin C regulates the synthesis of collagen and it does this by hydroxylating collagen, which makes it more stable and improves the way it supports the epidermis.  L-ascorbic acid is known for its instability, however, it is more stable in animal fats at a lower pH in this whole food form.

Organic White Willow Bark — White willow bark is a natural form of salicylic acid, which is a familiar component of many acne treatment products thanks to its anti-inflammatory effects. Salicin can slow signs of aging by reducing the appearance of pores, wrinkles, and pigmentation. Salicin is exfoliating and acne-reducing. It also contains polyphenols that contribute antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects to help protect against sun damage and premature aging.

Organic Plantain — This Native American remedy for rapid skin repair is excellent for anti-wrinkling and a good source of vitamin C.

Astaxanthin - A rare, deep red-colored carotenoid found in micro-algae, is perhaps the most powerful antioxidant available in nature.  On its own has a profound ability to protect skin against UV damage, dryness, and premature wrinkles.  In comparison, astaxanthin is 800 times stronger than CoQ10 and 6000 times stronger than Vitamin C, and together the three create a broad spectrum of oxidative stress reducing elements.  It isn't as easily absorbed as CoQ10 and vitamin C, so its topical effects vary.

Q-Max (TM) - Coenzyme Q10 is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance present in every cell of the human body. It is vital to the production of energy within cells. It is also a very powerful antioxidant or free radical scavenger. Topically applied, CoQ10 can penetrate the cell layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and may lessen the depth of wrinkles due to photo aging, as well as epithelial cell turnover.  Plus, it increases the effectiveness of vitamin C.  We chose this trademarked form of CoQ10 because of its stability and credibility in the natural skincare industry.

Essential Oil Blend - Clary Sage, German Chamomile, and Roman Chamomile, chosen for their skin calming and sleep promoting benefits.  Chamomile essential oil also contains alpha bisabolol, known for its tissue regeneration booster properties and proven to be topically effective in repairing epidermal sun damage.

I am in my 50s and struggle with dry, sallow, photo aged skin. Finally I have something in my new skincare regime that brightens and smooths my skin like nothing else. It feels tighter and so much healthier after using for only a few days. Feeling like a goddess! Thank you!

I purchased the Day Cream SPF, the Night cream and the Eye cream. I love all of them, but especially the Day Cream. It is so good! It makes my skin so soft and even looking. My skin is so soft in the morning after using the Night Cream. Will definitely be back for more.

Night Repair Tallow Balm
Written by Silvia on Nov 16th 2023

I have sensitive skin and the new unscented version of the Night Repair Tallow Balm works great for me. I hope that I'll be able to see more of the other wonderful Buffalo Gal Grassfed Beauty balms with an unscented version in the future.

The best ever!!

I have been using the anti-aging tallow and wanted to explore the benefits of the night time tallow as winter approaches. It feels very different than the other and sometimes is makes my skin tingle a bit. I prefer the frankincense scent better than this one but the benefits are worth the change. I may get the other tallow again to use in the morning and because I absolutely love the smell! I am 46. At school the other day a mom said she’s probably the oldest mom in the room (she’ll be 44 in 2 weeks). I am frequently complemented on my skin looking so healthy and moisturized. I definitely look younger than my age. I went through menopause at 40 and was very concerned about aging prematurely. After trying a different skincare brand I came across Buffalo Gals after my younger sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. I ordered some for her to use during radiation and thought this could be great for my skin as well. Whatever wrinkles I had before have softened so much. I’m a believer in tallow and am sold on this amazing company?

Use it All Over!
Written by Kialeigh on Nov 8th 2023

At first I was worried that it would take me a long time to use this balm. It's thick and rich, and I love it! It has evened out the tone on my face so I can go without makeup more confidently now. Anyway, I learned that I can use it all over, so I do and my body has never been happier. Of course, my dogs love it as much as I do -- lol.
